Hulu Live TV closed out the second calendar quarter (Disney Q3 Fiscal 2024) with 4.4 million live TV subscribers. Following a decline during the previous quarter, the latest subscriber update confirms two quarterly subscriber declines in a row.
Hulu Live TV ended 2023 with 4.6 million subscribers. At the end of the first calendar quarter of this year, the number of subscribers had declined to 4.5 million. With another decline during the most recent quarter, Hulu Live TV has lost around 200,000 subscribers during the first six months of this year.
Considering Hulu closed out the second calendar quarter of 2023 with 4.3 million live TV subscribers, Hulu gained around 100,000 live TV subscribers year over year.
Hulu also ended the second calendar quarter of this year with 46.7 million subscribers basic (SVOD) subscribers. This represents an increase of almost two million on the 45.8 million SVOD subscribers reported for the first calendar quarter.
When factoring in the live TV subscribers, Hulu ended the most recent quarter with 51.1 million subscribers in total. This marks an increase on the 50.2 million total (basic + live TV) subscribers reported for the previous quarter.
Average monthly revenue per paid subscriber for Hulu Live TV totaled $96.11 for the second calendar quarter, up from $95.01 on the previous quarter. Likewise, average monthly revenue per paid subscriber for basic Hulu totaled $12.73, up from $11.84 at the end of March 2024.
Earlier this week, Disney confirmed that the cost of Hulu is increasing later this year. Beginning October 17, the cost of Hulu Live TV will increase to a minimum of $82.99 a month.
In addition, the cost of the Hulu (With Ads) plan will increase from $7.99 to $9.99 a month (or $99.99 a year) and the cost of the Hulu (No Ads) plan will increase from $17.99 to $18.99 a month.
