Starting from March 1st, 2023, existing Hulu Live TV subscribers will no longer have access to Boomerang with their base plan. Unlike other channels that are often completely removed from a service when removed from a base plan, Boomerang will still be available via an add-on. Put simply, Hulu Live TV subscribers will soon have to pay extra each month if they want to continue watching the channel.

The standard Hulu Live TV plan costs $69.99 per month and unlocks access to basic Hulu, Disney Plus and ESPN Plus, in addition to more than 85 live TV channels. While the base plan did previously include Boomerang, that’s now in the process of changing, and may have already changed for new subscribers.

Hulu is today emailing existing subscribers to advise them that, starting from March 1, 2023, the Boomerang network will no longer be part of their standard live TV subscription. The email then goes on to explain that existing subscribers can continue to watch Boomerang after March 1st by subscribing to the Entertainment Add-on.

While Hulu hasn’t officially announced the change outside of emailing existing subscribers, the base plan channels listed on the Hulu Live TV website were updated today and the latest list indicates that Boomerang is no longer part of the base plan.

It is currently unclear whether this means those signing up to Hulu Live TV before March 1st won’t have access to the channel, but that would appear to be the case.

For reference, the Entertainment Add-on costs an additional $7.99 per month on top of the cost of the base plan, taking the total of both live TV and add-on to a minimum of $77.98 per month. At present, the Entertainment Add-on unlocks access to more than 15 additional entertainment channels including Cooking Channel, Discovery Family and Life, Hallmark Drama, Science, and TeenNick, among others.

While it does offer good value for those that want to add any of the additional channels, having to pay extra to access a channel that was previously included in the base live TV plan will feel like a price increase to many existing subscribers. For those less interested in Boomerang, or previously unaware that they had access to the channel, this change to the lineup may not matter quite as much.
