Apparently, Hulu Live TV has the happiest live TV subscribers and Amazon Prime Video has the happiest subscribers among streaming apps. These happiest streamer stats have been provided as part of the American Customer Satisfaction Index’s (ACSI) Telecommunications Study 2022-2023.

Happiness is not always something we think a lot about when it comes to streaming services. After all, most of the time, most people are preoccupied with what’s wrong with their streaming services, or the content that’s missing. Not to mention, if a consumer is too unhappy with a service, it is highly likely they will just cancel their subscription, right?

While live TV is a section of the streaming market that often makes consumers unhappy, with channel disputes and ever-increasing prices, it would seem that Hulu Live TV has the happiest subscribers overall. According to the ACSI’s latest customer satisfaction study, Hulu Live TV was top with an ACSI score of 80.

Here’s how the main TV providers, streaming and traditional, scored on ACSI’s happiness index:

YouTube TV76
Verizon Fios74
DirecTV Stream72

Dish Network68

Optimum60

For those familiar with the live TV streaming market, they will notice that the list above doesn’t include all of the available options. It would seem that the rest have been grouped together under All Others with a collective ACSI score of 65.

When it comes to non-live TV streaming services, Prime Video is seemingly the service that has the happiest subscribers with an ACSI score of 80. Furthermore, this score has increased 8% when compared to the year before, with an increase in original programming suggested as one of the reasons for its increasing popularity.

Here’s how the main streaming services scored on ACSI’s happiness index:

Similar to live TV, there are, obviously, significantly more streaming services than what’s listed here, and many of the others have been grouped under All Others (Streaming and Live TV apps), which scored 75 overall.

In terms of methodology, “the ACSI Telecommunications Study 2022-2023 is based on interviews with 22,061 customers, chosen at random and contacted via email between April 2022 and March 2023.”

According to the ACSI, “Customers are asked to evaluate their recent experiences with the largest companies in terms of market share, plus an aggregate category consisting of “all other”—and thus smaller—companies in those industries.”
