HBO Max is available as a Prime Video Channel once again, providing consumers with an additional way to sign up to the streaming service. While it is easy enough to sign up to HBO Max directly, there can be benefits to creating a subscription through a third-party service like Amazon’s Prime Video Channels.

HBO Max costs either $9.99 or $14.99 per month depending on whether the subscriber is happy to sit through the ads or wants to skip them. Regardless of the price paid, all subscribers get access to the same library of content which includes HBO and Max originals, as well as DC, TCM, Cartoon Network, and Studio Ghibli content.

While it was previously possible to sign up to HBO through Prime Video Channels, the option was removed back in September of 2021. A little over a year later and that option has now returned. In a press release announcing the relaunch of HBO Max on Prime Video, Warner Bros. Discovery and Amazon also made clear that when the new and merged HBO Max-Discovery Plus service launches next year, it will also be available through Prime Video.

For those now considering signing up to HBO Max through Prime Video, it is worth noting that only the $14.99 per month ad-free subscription is available. For those that would prefer to save on the monthly cost with the ad-supported plan, or by signing up to an annual plan, they will still need to sign up to HBO Max directly.

While it isn’t any cheaper to sign up to HBO Max through Prime Video, one of the benefits is the removal of the need for a separate app. Instead, Prime Video subscribers can simply access the full HBO Max library directly within the Prime Video app, and on their favorite Fire TV devices, or any device that has the Prime Video app installed.

Another benefit is the ability to just pay Amazon and avoid having to set up a separate subscription through HBO Max. Of course, going this route does also mean that, if and when the time comes, subscribers will need to cancel their HBO Max subscription directly through Prime Video, not through HBO Max.
