Get 3 Months Of Ad-Free HBO Max For $15 When Buying Latest Chromecast

Chromecast with Google TV

Google now offers the option to bundle a three-month HBO Max subscription with a Chromecast with Google TV purchase, resulting in some major savings on the cost of the streaming service. Previously, this type of streaming player and subscription package was only available with Netflix, excluding the times when Google has offered discounts on its own YouTube TV subscription when purchasing its streaming player.

The Chromecast with Google TV is the latest streaming device to come from the house of Google. Unlike the previous Chromecast versions, the newer model not only removes the need for a connected phone (due to its Google TV user interface), but it also comes with its own remote control as well. Essentially, it is a standalone streaming player.

A standard Chromecast with Google TV costs $49.99 when purchased on its own. However, if buying directly through the Google Store, consumers now have the option of combining the streaming player with a three-month HBO Max subscription for $64.99 in total. For reference, the Netflix deal ups the overall cost to $89.99, but extends the subscription to six months.

Unlike the Netflix promotion, there is one major caveat with the Chromecast and HBO Max bundle, and that’s the combined deal is only available to new HBO Max subscribers. Due to this, those already signed up to the service will need to either opt for the Netflix bundle (available to new and existing subscribers) or just consider picking up the Chromecast on its own.

Two months of HBO Max for free

Considering the standard cost of a Chromecast with Google TV is $49.99, buyers are getting a three-month HBO subscription for an additional $15. HBO Max typically costs $15 per month, so this is the same as getting two months of the service for free. While HBO Max has since launched a cheaper, ad-supported tier priced at $9.99 per month, the bundle is specifically for the ad-free version of HBO Max, resulting in the additional $30 of savings over the three months.

Of course, the other way of looking at the deal is that three months of HBO Max would typically set a new subscriber back around $45 in total. In this sense, it is the same as getting the Chromecast with Google TV for $20, so long as the individual or household intends on staying subscribed for the full three months. Either way, it is not a bad promotion, as long as a new streaming player is needed, and the buyer is not already an HBO Max subscriber.
