The Google TV platform now offers users access to more than 950 FAST channels. As we reported last month, Google TV added around 10 new channels as part of a June 2024 update, taking the total number of free channels up to more than 130.

However, those are only the channels listed in the ‘Google TV‘ section of the Live tab. Thanks to content partnerships with various third parties, including Haystack News, Plex, Pluto TV, and Tubi, the overall number of free channels is significantly higher.

Back in 2023, Google announced a major expansion to its free, ad-supported live experience, with the massive injection of free channels increasing the total number to more than 800. Since then, Google has continued to add more channels on a routine basis, and has now confirmed the addition of 100 more have taken the overall total number beyond the 950 marker for the first time.

Highlighting just how powerful Google TV has become in terms of watching free live content, Google says the Live tab offers “more free channels in one place than any other smart TV platform.”

This is also without taking into consideration Google TV’s integration of paid live TV services. For example, it is also possible for those signed up to either Philo, Sling TV or YouTube TV to have the various paid channels included with their live TV package to surface in the same Live tab as the free channels.

With more free channels than ever before, and support for paid services, the Google TV platform continues to evolve into an impressive one-stop free and paid live TV solution.
