Google TV has added a number of new FAST channels, providing users with access to even more free content. The new channels appear to be rolling out now as part of a June 2024 update and, as far as we can tell, there are 10 new channels in total.
The new Google TV FAST channels include:
- FilmRise Western
- ION+
- Johnny Carson TV
- Noticias Telemundo Ahora
- Property & Reno
- Real Disaster Channel
- Supermarket Sweep
- The FBI Files
- World’s Wildest Police Videos
- Yahoo Finance
In March of this year, Google added another eight channels from CBC, FilmRise and Scripps Networks. With the new batch now available as well, Google TV offers access to more than 130 free, built-in channels.
For reference, these are the channels specifically listed under ‘Google TV‘ in the Live section of the interface. In general, Android TV and Google TV devices offer access to a significantly greater number of free channels, thanks to Google’s content partnerships with Pluto and others.
Earlier this month, Google also confirmed the launch of a new ‘Google TV network’ that’s designed to make it easier for advertisers to get involved with its FAST platform. While the new network might not necessary affect the frequency or duration of ads, it is expected to result in new ad formats being used in the future.
With Google clearly interested in bringing more advertisers in, it stands to reason that even more free channels are likely to be added in the future as well.
