fuboTV has made some changes to its Standard and Family plans and packages for new subscribers. While the first change removes the cheapest option for signing up to the live TV streaming service, the second offers new customers a way to get more value with a fuboTV subscription.
fuboTV is one of many live TV streaming services currently operating in the U.S., although this one does place a slightly higher emphasis on live sports access than others. However, that emphasis comes at a higher monthly cost and now, the entry level price has gotten even higher.
The fuboTV Standard plan was priced at $59.99 per month and while previously hidden, it could easily be found when the consumer knew where to look. Now, the service has removed the option completely, leaving new customers with no option but to sign up for the Family plan. Priced at $64.99 per month, the Family plan is now the cheapest live TV plan fuboTV offers.
More value with the Family plan
Although the entry level price has now increased from $59.99 to $64.99 per month, the Family plan does come with some notable improvements, including more cloud DVR hours to record with and simultaneous streams to use at the same time. Further adding to the value, fuboTV is now offering more channels as long as the subscriber is willing to sign up for a longer period of time.
Essentially, once the consumer has clicked on the “start free trial” button and entered their email and confirmed location, they will be presented with the option of either signing up on a monthly or quarterly basis.
Signing up for the three-month option does not make the plan any cheaper, but fuboTV is currently bundling the fubo Extra add-on with the quarterly payment option. As a result, subscribers who agree to pay for three months up front gain access to an additional 47 channels. In addition, the cloud DVR limit also jumps up from 250 hours to 1,000 and two more streams to use at the same time are added as well.
Generally speaking, the fubo Extra add-on typically costs $7.99 per month so it is not that expensive of an add-on for those that don’t want to pay for three months in advance, but do want access to the additional channels and streams.
However, with the inclusion of the Cloud DVR 1000 (recording hours) and Family Share Max (streams) add-ons as well, this puts the Family plan relatively level with the Elite plan.
Considering the Elite plan costs $79.99 per month, opting to pay $194.97 ($64.99 per month) at the start of every three-month cycle, this could be a good option for those looking to maximize the value on offer without paying the highest prices possible.
That is as long as they know they will stay subscribed to fuboTV for the full three months.
