fuboTV’s Cheapest Live TV Plan Is Now $69.99 Per Month

fuboTV has now removed what was its cheapest live TV plan, resulting in the entry level cost increasing to $69.99 per month for new customers. Price increases have become a common trend in the world of live TV streaming, and with many services tending to price their base plan at a similar level, the price itself has become a much harder way to differentiate between the various options.

Previously, fuboTV offered a ‘Starter’ plan priced at $64.99 per month. The Starter plan provided access to more than 100 channels, 250 hours of cloud DVR recording space, and the ability to stream on up to three devices at the same time. For those wanting a richer experience, fuboTV also offered Pro and Elite plans at the same time, priced at $69.99 and $79.99, respectively.

The Starter plan has now been removed leaving Pro as the current cheapest option overall. While there isn’t really any difference in the channel lineup, the fuboTV website does show that the $5 more expensive plan boosts the number of recording hours up to 1,000 and the number of simultaneous streams to ten (while at home). In this sense, what is effectively a price increase for new customers does at least offer some improvements compared to the previously available Starter plan. Those already signed up to fuboTV’s Starter plan are not understood to be affected by this change.

fuboTV has actually been experimenting with the new entry price for a few weeks, so the change may not be all that new to everyone. Regardless, anyone now attempting to sign up to fuboTV can expect to pay the higher rate. At this price, a standard fuboTV subscription costs the same as the standard Hulu Live TV subscription, albeit without the benefit of free basic Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN+. Likewise, the fuboTV Pro plan is also the same price as the cheapest DirecTV Stream package as well. All of which does make fuboTV, Hulu Live TV and DirecTV Stream slightly more expensive options than YouTube TV.

Of course, for those that do want to save on the cost of live TV streaming, there is always Sling TV. The more affordable service offers plans from as little as $35 per month, providing the channel selection is good enough. Speaking of which, for those that find Philo’s channel lineup is varied enough for their needs, its even more affordable $25 per month subscription might be worth considering.
