fuboTV recently hit one million subscribers, a major milestone for the live TV streaming service. While Hulu Live TV and YouTube TV continue to remain in the subscriber lead, fuboTV has continually and consistently increased its user base, and doesn’t look like it will be slowing down soon.

fuboTV is not the most affordable live TV option around. With plans starting at $64.99 per month, the live TV streaming service directly competes on price with Hulu and YouTube’s solutions. However, fuboTV does place a much greater focus on sports content than other services and with live sports becoming harder to access, it is proving to be a popular alternative for many individuals and households.

fuboTV had 944,605 subscribers as of September 30, 2021. The company confirmed the latest subscriber number as part of its financial results for the third quarter of the year. Although the company did not technically reach the one million mark during the quarter, the announcement explains that one million subscribers were reached soon after the quarter ended, referring to the milestone as an “exciting inflection point” for the business. It is also worth noting that the number is specifically in relation to paid subscribers.

To put the company’s level of subscriber growth into perspective, fuboTV had roughly 455,000 subscribers at the end of the third quarter of 2020, and was only at 590,000 at the end of Q1 in 2021. Going even further back, the number of subscribers stood at 288,000 at the end of the same quarter in 2019. In the last two years alone, the number of subscribers has effectively doubled, twice.

Although Hulu Live TV, Sling TV, and YouTube TV have all reported multiple millions of subscribers, their rate of growth has somewhat slowed. YouTube TV is the slight exception here, and it still remains unclear where exactly Google’s live TV service stands in terms of users. However, Hulu Live TV has somewhat stagnated after briefly hitting the four million mark while Sling TV continues to fluctuate around the 2.5 million mark. In contrast, fuboTV has managed to find room to increase its subscriber base each quarter and should, on paper, officially pass the one million mark when the fourth quarter results are announced in early 2022.
