Fubo is all set to add the pocket.watch and Ryan and Friends channels after agreeing a carriage deal with pocket.watch to carry both channels. While it currently remains to be seen when the two channels will be added, they are set to arrive on Fubo later this year.
pocket.watch and Ryan and Friends are both free channels, or FAST channels as they are commonly referred to these days, and according to the announcement, the deal is set to make the two channels “the most widely distributed kids and family FAST (free ad-supported streaming TV) channels in the United States.”
In explaining the growth of these channels in recent years, the announcement explains that watch-time doubled year over year in January 2023 and is up 8x when compared to 2021. Overall, the channels are credited with 4 billion watch-time minutes over three years.
According to pocket.watch Founder and CEO, Chris M. Williams, “Pocket.watch uniquely brings kids and families their favorite star creators in premium, high-quality shows that parents can trust.”
Both channels are advertised as offering “a wide variety of content starring the world’s most popular kids and family creators from YouTube and other social video platforms.” In total, homes can expect to gain access to more than 40 creator partners and shows including Ryan’s World, Toys and Colors, Onyx Family, Dan Rhodes, and Kids Diana Show.
As these are free channels to begin with, existing Fubo subscribers won’t have to worry about an increase in the price of their subscription once the channels are eventually added later in 2023.
