Fubo is a live TV streaming service operating in select countries, including the U.S. While Fubo provides access to a variety of sports, news and entertainment channels, the exact price and channel lineup depends on the plan. In addition to its paid packages, Fubo also offers a ‘Fubo Free’ tier that unlocks access to a selection of FAST channels without a paid subscription.

Does Fubo offer a free trial?
Yes, Fubo typically offers all new subscribers a 7-day free trial. However, Fubo does vary the length of the free trial throughout the year, which can result in a longer free trial or no free trial at all.
One point to note about Fubo is that it also charges an additional regional sports networks fee in many locations in the U.S. This additional fee can increase the price of a base plan by as much as $15 each month, taking the minimum cost in these areas up to $94.98 a month.
Unlike other live TV services, Fubo routinely offers the option to subscribe on a quarterly basis. While not usually any cheaper, quarterly plans can unlock access to a small selection of additional channels.

For those less interested in paying for a live TV package, the ‘Fubo Free’ tier is a new addition and unlocks access to a variety of FAST channels at no cost. Even though Fubo Free doesn’t require a paid subscription, it does require a Fubo account.

Fubo Features
Even though Fubo is a premium live TV service, it is a little limited on premium features, with the most notable being access to an unlimited DVR and Multiview.
Unlimited DVR
All Fubo subscribers get access to an unlimited cloud DVR, making it possible to record as many movies, shows, and sports events as wanted. Similar to other live TV streaming services, recordings can only be kept for a maximum of nine months.
Multiview
Similar to YouTube TV, Fubo offers a Multiview feature that allows subscribers to watch up to four feeds at the same time on the one screen. While a great feature to have access to, Fubo’s Multiview experience is currently limited to Apple TV players.
Instant Highlights And Instant Headlines
Instant Highlights and Instant Headlines are the same feature in principle. Instant Highlights is similar to YouTube TV’s Key Plays, as it offers a way to catch up on important moments during a sports event. Likewise, Instant Headlines uses AI to generate ‘Instant Headlines’ from live news programming.
The Downside Of Fubo
The major downside with Fubo is the price, and this is made all the worse in locations where the additional RSN fee is in effect. For subscribers in these locations, a live TV plan can cost close to $100 a month, and that’s for the cheapest plan.
Fubo Price Increases
See how the price has changed
This is an even bigger downside for homes that are not interested in live sports, as there is currently no way to opt out of the sports channels to avoid encountering the additional sports fee.
Even in an areas where the RSN fee is not applied, $80 is still on the higher end when it comes to live TV streaming packages, making Fubo an expensive service in general.
Fubo Alternatives
Live TV services cheaper than Fubo
Another potential downside is that Fubo is missing channels that some homes may consider to be important, including TBS and TNT. With Fubo missing some channels, it is all the more important to be aware of the channel lineup before signing up.
Is Fubo Worth It?
We do think Fubo is worth a subscription but we also encourage those considering signing up to be aware of the limitations first. The RSN fee is the biggest issue for us, as it does significantly increase the price, and especially for those that are not primarily interested in watching live sports.
In general, we consider Fubo to be more worthwhile for sports fans. Although the service does offer a wide variety of channels, Fubo emphasizes its sports focus and this can make it less attractive to homes that don’t consider sports to be a necessity.
