Fubo Alternatives: Here Are 5 Cheaper Live TV Services To Consider

Whether considering switching from Fubo to another service, or just looking to see what else you can get for the same price before signing up, there are other options available and at a cheaper monthly price.

Fubo increased the price of its plans in January 2024, taking the minimum cost up to $79.99. This is only the minimum cost as subscribers may also be required to pay an additional regional sports fee, potentially increasing the monthly cost by as much as $15.

Regardless of the regional sports fee, $80 a month is still quite high for a live TV package. While Fubo is not the only live TV streaming service to increase in price over the past few years, some still remain cheaper than Fubo.

Here are five live TV streaming services you can sign up to right now at a cheaper monthly price than Fubo.

Priced at $76.99 a month, Hulu Live TV is $3 cheaper than Fubo’s $79.99/month Pro plan. While not exactly a huge saving each month, some homes may find they actually end up saving even more.

The reason for this is that a Hulu Live TV subscription also includes access to basic Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN+. This means homes already paying for any of these services on top of Fubo won’t have to continue paying for these additional subscriptions.

For those less interested in access to basic Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN+, it is also possible to sign up to a Live TV Only plan. This option lowers the price by $1, resulting in a live TV package that’s $4 cheaper than Fubo each month.

Another popular option is YouTube TV, and with its main live TV plan priced at $72.99 a month, YouTube TV is $7 cheaper than Fubo. For the monthly price, subscribers get access to more than 100 live TV channels as well as a varied selection of on-demand content.

For those that like to record content, YouTube TV does offer one of the better DVR experiences around. Not only is it an unlimited DVR, but it is also personalized to the user. As a result, YouTube TV’s DVR often proves popular with busier households where multiple people are sharing the same subscription.

For those looking to significantly save on a live TV package, Sling TV costs a minimum of $40 a month. At this price, Sling is basically half the price of Fubo. Naturally, a much cheaper monthly cost does result in a more limited channel lineup, but if Sling offers the channels you need, why pay more?

Sling actually offers two main plans to choose from, Sling Orange and Sling Blue. While both of these cost $40 a month each, some new Sling Blue subscribers may find they have to pay an additional $5 a month, due to a local ABC fee. Still, even at $45 a month, Sling Blue is $35 cheaper than Fubo.

Philo is $55 cheaper than Fubo

Philo is another good option for those looking for a low-cost live TV package. With its base plan costing just $25 a month, Philo is around $55 cheaper than Fubo each month.

While the channel selection is more limited than Fubo’s, a Philo subscription unlocks access to more than 60 live TV channels, including A&E, Hallmark, and Lifetime. In addition, Philo subscribers also get access to an unlimited cloud DVR, so it is possible to record as many programs as you like.

Frndly TV is $72 cheaper than Fubo

If really looking to save on the cost of live TV, Frndly TV is always an option. With plans starting at just $7.99 a month, Frndly TV is up to $72 cheaper than Fubo’s cheapest live TV package. If willing to pay for an entire year up front, the saving will be even greater.

Frndly TV offers three different plans to choose from and even its most expensive package only costs $11.99 a month. While upgrading to one of the more expensive packages won’t improve the channel lineup, it will improve the playback quality, DVR, and the number of devices the service can be streamed on at the same time.

Again, with such a deep drop in the price, Frndly TV doesn’t offer anywhere near as many channels as Fubo, so that’s something to keep in mind. Not to mention, Frndly TV won’t be an option for any homes looking for a live TV plan that includes news and sports.

Choosing the right Fubo alternative

While all of the live TV services listed in this guide are cheaper than Fubo, the price shouldn’t be the only factor to consider when picking a live TV provider.

In particular, all of these cheaper alternatives offer a different channel lineup, and some homes may find that Fubo’s plans and selection of channels suits their needs more, making Fubo a better option in spite of the higher price.

Outside of the price and channels, it is also important to check for any other limitations. For example, limitations on the DVR or the number of simultaneous streams could also impact the overall user experience and value offered by a cheaper alternative.
