FIFA Plus is now available on more platforms and devices, thanks to an expansion in support of smart TV apps. FIFA also confirmed that FIFA Plus is now available on more free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channel platforms as well.
FIFA launched FIFA Plus in the first half of 2022 to offer soccer fans access to live matches, interactive games, news, tournament information, and more, and from both the men’s and women’s games.
With the Women’s World Cup 2023 currently underway, FIFA confirmed that FIFA Plus is now accessible to even more homes. As part of the expansion in support, dedicated FIFA Plus connected TV apps are now available on Samsung TVs, LG TVs, VIDAA-powered TVs, as well as Amazon Fire TV and Android TV devices.
Technically, Android TV and Google TV devices gained support for the app back in December through a deal with VIDAA. While the VIDAA-related app (Play Store) was previously advertised as FIFA+, it appears to have been rebranded as Women’s World Cup App following a recent update.
As a result, Android TV and Google TV device users may want to consider downloading the new FIFA+ app (Play Store) for the most relevant experience.
For soccer fans that rely more heavily on FAST services to watch content, FIFA Plus can also now be accessed via Samsung TV Plus, LG Channels, VIDAA Channels, The Roku Channel, and Rakuten TV.
“We are excited to bring FIFA+ to fans through these connected TV apps and FAST channel platforms , extending our reach and making football more accessible to a wider audience,” said Charlotte Burr, FIFA’s Director of Strategy, Digital and FIFA+.
As mentioned, the Women’s World Cup is currently in progress and this expansion of support will provide more homes with access to content from the tournament.
In more than 50 countries, including Brazil, Japan and The Netherlands, FIFA Plus offers access to live broadcasts of matches. In countries where FIFA Plus doesn’t offer access to live matches, homes may still be able to use the free service to watch full-match replays 24 hours after the live version has ended.
Regardless of whether FIFA Plus offers access to live matches or full replays in a specific country, all app users can check out a variety of additional soccer-related content, including interviews, highlights, and more.
