The ESPN app is now available to download on LG smart TVs, unlocking access to the ESPN+ streaming service. While the ESPN app is widely available on different platforms and devices, LG smart TVs remained one of those that didn’t offer a native app.

LG’s smart TVs typically run on webOS. As this is LG’s own operating system, it is different to the various smart TVs running on either Android TV (including Google TV), Fire TV, and Roku. This also means that there might be times when an LG smart TV owner finds they can’t access some of their favorite apps.

Up until today, this was also the case with the ESPN app. However, with the app now live, it is available to download on 2020 and newer LG smart TVs directly through the LG Content Store. According to LG, the ESPN app is also expected to become available on 2018 and 2019 LG smart TV models at a later date.

With the ESPN app available, homes using an LG smart TV now have the option of subscribing to and watching ESPN+ without the need of an additional streaming player. Following the recent price increase, a standard ESPN+ subscription now costs $10.99 a month, or $109.99 a year.

The availability of the app also now makes it easier for those signed up to the Disney Bundle to access all of the apps and services included with their subscription. For those new to the Disney Bundle, a subscription costs $14.99 a month for the Trio Basic package or $24.99 a month for the Trio Premium plan. Both Disney Bundle tiers unlock access to Disney+, ESPN+, and basic Hulu.

Back in September, LG also began rolling out the LG Channels 3.0 update, providing LG Channels users with an upgraded user experience that includes a new UI with improved navigation, better content discovery, and an enhanced channel guide.
