Disney+ now has more than 150 million total subscribers after seeing an increase of around 4 million during the most recent quarter. This is the overall number including domestic, international, and Disney+ Hotstar subscribers.

Disney+ ended the second calendar quarter (third fiscal) of 2023 with 146.1 million global subscribers. With the third calendar (fourth fiscal) quarter having ended with 150.2 million, Disney saw a subscriber increase just shy of four million.

In terms of the domestic (U.S. and Canada) market, Disney+ ended the most recent quarter with 46.5 million subscribers. This is a more modest increase of around 500,000 on the 46 million reported for the previous quarter. It is also an increase of around 100,000 on the 46.4 million reported for the end of the same quarter of last year.

International subscribers, which excludes Disney+ Hotstar subscribers, is where Disney saw the bulk of its growth. After finishing the most recent quarter with 66.1 international subscribers, Disney+ grew by around 6.4 million.

When it comes to Disney+ Hotstar, Disney reported a drop of around 2.8 million. While Disney closed the most recent quarter with 37.6 million Disney+ Hotstar subscribers, the quarter before ended with 40.4 million.

Some of the key programming that became available on Disney+ during the quarter included Ahsoka, Elemental, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Little Mermaid and the Korean original series Moving.

According to a report from earlier this year, Disney has internally revised its subscriber goals after reportedly expectingto fall tens of millions of subscribers short” of its 2024 target. That target was to reach between 215 million and 245 million subscribers by the end of the company’s fiscal 2024 (October 1st, 2024).

As part of its fourth fiscal (third calendar) quarter results, Disney also confirmed that Hulu Live TV saw a healthy increase in subscribers, pushing the number up to 4.6 million, which is an increase of around 300,000.
