Disney+ added almost eight million subscribers in the U.S. and Canada in the first three months of 2024, marking a good quarter for the streaming service. When factoring in other markets, Disney+ ended the first calendar quarter (Q2 Fiscal 2024) with 153.6 million subscribers, a quarter over quarter increase of around four million.
In the U.S. and Canada, Disney+ ended the first calendar quarter with 54 million subscribers, up from the 46.1 million reported at the end of 2023. Considering Disney+ closed out the first calendar quarter of last year with 46.3 million, the streaming service also added around eight million U.S. and Canada subscribers over the past twelve months.
Outside of the U.S. and Canada, Disney saw the number of International (excluding Disney+ Hotstar) subscribers drop to 63.6 million (down from 65.2 at the start of the year). In total, this resulted in the number of Disney+ Core (Domestic and International) subscribers increasing from 111.3 million at the start of the year to 117.6 million.
As the number of Disney+ Hotstar subscribers also declined to 36 million (down from 38.3 million at the start of 2024), Disney finished the most recent quarter with a total of 153.6 million Disney+ subscribers. While this represented a four million increase on the 149.6 million reported at the end of 2023, it also resulted in a decline of around four million when compared to the 157.8 million reported at the end of the first calendar quarter of last year.
Alongside the Disney+ subscriber numbers, Disney also confirmed that Hulu ended the first calendar quarter with a total of 50.2 million subscribers. While this resulted in an increase of around 500,000 subscribers over the past three months, Hulu Live TV ended the quarter with 4.5 million, a decline of around 100,000 subscribers.
