LG has now added Disney+ to its Automotive Content Platform, allowing those with a vehicle that utilizes the company’s infotainment system to access the streaming service.
So far, Disney+ has only gone live for webOS-powered infotainment systems in South Korea. However, LG has confirmed that Disney+ will also roll out to infotainment systems in others market in due course, including the United States.
“Now, with the addition of Disney+, LG’s in-vehicle infotainment solution gives passengers an even wider range of high-quality content to choose from during their journeys,” said Brad Oh, president of LG Electronics Component Solutions USA.
Last month, LG confirmed its in-vehicle solution was coming to the latest all-electric SUV from Kia. This follows confirmation late last year that LG’s infotainment system was also coming to Hyundai’s new Genesis models.
While vehicle owners will be able to access Disney+ through the infotainment system, a subscription to the streaming service is still required to watch content. A standalone Disney+ subscription costs a minimum of $7.99 a month, and there is the option to bundle Disney+ with Hulu from $9.99 a month.
As webOS is one of the platforms that currently offers the option for bundle subscribers to access Hulu content through the Disney+ app, similar in-vehicle support might also be available once Disney+ rolls out to LG’s Automotive Content Platform in the U.S.
