Discovery+ Now Available on Xfinity Flex (& Coming to X1 Soon)

Discovery+ Xfinity flex

Discovery+ is now available on Xfinity Flex and will be launching on Xfinity X1 soon. With the streaming service now expanding device support to Comcast customers, many more will be able to sign up to the service and stream their favorite shows. In addition, existing subscribers now have even more ways to access Discovery+ content.

Discovery+ launched in January providing subscribers with access to more than 55,000 episodes of shows from HGTV, Food Network, ID, and other popular Discovery-owned networks. However, with the service being new, it has suffered from limited device support since launch. In particular, Comcast’s Xfinity platform was largely unsupported, but that’s now changing.

Discovery+ has now confirmed that Xfinity Flex customers can download the app and stream the service on their device. In addition, the announcement confirmed that Discovery+ will begin rolling out to Xfinity X1 customers soon. Although an exact day was not announced, the rollout is expected to begin in the coming weeks.

With the service now available on Xfinity Flex, customers can access Discovery+ through the apps section of the device, or by using the voice remote to search for “Discovery+.” Besides Discovery+, the announcement also confirmed that the Food Network Kitchen and MotorTrend direct-to-consumer apps are also now available on Xfinity Flex and coming to Xfinity X1 soon.

Xfinity customers can now access Discovery+

With the support now live for Xfinity Flex customers and coming soon for X1, Xfinity customers now have access to the popular streaming service. However, they will still need a subscription to stream shows and episodes. A Discovery+ subscription currently costs $4.99 per month, but consumers can upgrade to an ad-free experience for $6.99 per month. Besides the ads, there are no major differences between the Discovery+ ad-supported and ad-free plans.

In addition to Xfinity Flex (and X1 soon), Discovery+ is available to stream on a number of platforms and devices, including Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, and Roku players. However, while the Xfinity device support issue has now been fixed, the Sony PlayStation 4 and 5 support problem hasn’t, with Microsoft’s Xbox series still the only game consoles that Discovery+ can be accessed on. At present, it remains unclear when Discovery+ will be available to stream on Sony’s PlayStation consoles, if ever.
