DirecTV will continue to provide NFL Sunday Ticket to residential satellite customers in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This follows YouTube’s takeover of Sunday Ticket earlier this year.

While YouTube TV is now the official provider of Sunday Ticket to residential customers in the United States, it would seem that YouTube currently has an issue delivering access to the NFL service in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

According to a Sports Business Journal report, YouTube won’t be ready to offer NFL Sunday Ticket in these areas until November at the earliest.

Today, DirecTV confirmed that it will continue to offer NFL Sunday Ticket to residential satellite customers in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. In doing so, confirming that it has reached a deal with the NFL for these two locations.

What is less clear right now is how long the deal will run for, although it would seem likely to be longer than November, when YouTube would reportedly be ready to offer Sunday Ticket in these locations.

Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands are very unique in having avid fans for all the different teams across the NFL,” said Belkys Mata, VP Sales Operations DIRECTV Puerto Rico. “Retaining exclusivity to NFL Sunday Ticket in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands reaffirms our commitment to strengthening the live sports we offer to families and businesses, and putting customers first is always the motivation to how we go about our daily business.”

DirecTV also confirmed that its DirecTV for Business arm will distribute NFL Sunday Ticket to bars, restaurants, hotel lounges, retail shops, and other commercial venues in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

Earlier this year, DirecTV agreed a deal to offer Sunday Ticket to commercial businesses in general. In partnership with EverPass Media, the deal covers business customers throughout the United States.

It would seem the new Sunday Ticket residential deal for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands was also agreed through EverPass, the media platform created by the NFL and RedBird Capital Partners.
