The Movies Extra Pack add-on is free to DirecTV and DirecTV Stream subscribers between this Wednesday (September 27) and Sunday (October 1). During this time, subscribers will be able to watch any of the included eight premium channels for free.
As the name suggests, the Movies Extra Pack add-on is designed to improve access to movies, thanks to the inclusion of Hallmark Drama, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, HDNET Movies, and Sony Movies.
However, with A&E Crime Central, INSP (only available to DirecTV via Internet and DirecTV Stream subscribers), MTV Live, Shorts TV, and Smithsonian Channel also included, the add-on unlocks access to plenty of non-movie content as well.
Starting Wednesday, DirecTV and DirecTV subscribers will be able to check out the Movies Extra Pack add-on for themselves. While DirecTV routinely offers free previews of premium services, this one is a little longer than usual as it begins on September 27 and remains active throughout the weekend.
All of the channels included with Movies Extra Pack can be found in the live guide on channels 564-573, while DirecTV via Internet and DirecTV Stream can additionally access INSP on channel 264.
For those that decide they would like to retain access to Movies Extra Pack following the free preview, the add-on can be added to any DirecTV or DirecTV Stream plan for an additional $5 a month. Depending on the subscription and account, some subscribers may find they are eligible to get the first three months of Movie Extra Pack for free when adding it to their existing live TV package.
If new to DirecTV Stream in general, this live TV streaming service offers plans starting from $74.99 a month. While the exact number and selection of channels depends on the plan, the Movies Extra Pack can be added to an DirecTV or DirecTV Stream package.
