DirecTV and DirecTV Stream now carry Colorado Rockies games, thanks to a new deal with Major League Baseball. The deal is part of a wider MLB announcement today confirming the League will produce and distribute games for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Colorado Rockies and San Diego Padres in 2024.
Considering MLB was already handling distribution for the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres, the availability of the Colorado Rockies is a notable addition. In terms of DirecTV and DirecTV Stream, Rockies games will be available to watch on a new channel, MLB Colorado Rockies (Ch. 683).
Similar to how DirecTV and DirecTV Stream approaches regional sports networks in general, access to Colorado Rockies games is reserved for those signed up to the Choice ($108.99/month) and higher packages. In addition, games will only be available to Rockies fans in Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah, as well as portions of western Nebraska, eastern Idaho, and northern New Mexico.
“Colorado sports fans have made DirecTV the top destination to get all their favorite local teams,” said Rob Thun, chief content officer of DirecTV. “We will continue to work with MLB, the NBA, NHL, and other top leagues and their local franchises so the most avid fans can get the games they want while other customers have more choice over the content they want to pay to have in their homes.”
For fans based in one of these areas, not only can they expect access to live games, but also MLB-produced pregame and postgame coverage as well.
For Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres fans, today’s announcement confirms they can expect no change to the way their games are handled, following the changes last year. In other words, DirecTV and DirecTV Stream will continue to offer access to Diamondbacks and Padres games throughout the 2024 season.
