The DirecTV 4K channel (Channel 104) is now available on Apple TV 4K devices, providing owners of Apple’s streaming player with the option to watch select content in the higher resolution.
DirecTV 4K has been slowly rolling out to devices over the past few weeks. After initially only being available on the company’s own Gemini devices, Roku device owners started to gain access to the channel at the end of June.
Now, Apple TV is officially in the process of being added to the list of supported devices. As a result, anyone looking to check out the 4K channel will want to make sure their Apple TV app is updated to the more recent version
For reference, the latest version of the app is version 4.0.52 and the confirmation of the 4K support is listed under “What’s New” when updating the app on an Apple TV player.
“DIRECTV customers now have access to 4K Programming, a new user personalization wizard for new customers, along with a recording indicator for a more informed experience for the programs set to record. Enhanced common information for faster content discovery and improved Sports tab loading experience will be available for all customers.”
Once updated to the latest version, DirecTV Stream subscribers will be able to find and access DirecTV 4K by locating Channel 104 in the live guide.
As a reminder, Channel 104 is designed to be a “24/7 channel featuring shows, original series and documentaries” in 4K.
With Apple TV support now having gone live, and joining the ranks of Gemini and Roku devices, it is to be expected that either Android TV or Fire TV devices are likely to be next in line to receive their own DirecTV 4K support update.
