Diamond Sports Group and Los Angeles Kings have agreed a new multi-year deal that renews local television and digital rights for the NHL team.

It is no secret that Diamond Sports has had a tough 2023 so far. After filing for bankruptcy earlier this year, the company found itself having to make decisions on which leagues and teams it wants to continue working with. For example, San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks have both already broken away.

When it comes to the LA Kings, however, Diamond Sports has managed to renew its agreement with the National Hockey League team. Under the terms of the renewal, Bally Sports West will broadcast 65 live games, in addition to pre and post game content, and original programming.

Kings fans signed up to Bally Sports West via their live TV package, or subscribed to the company’s standalone Bally Sports Plus streaming service, will also be able to log in to the Bally Sports app and stream content using their existing credentials.

We are thrilled to extend our longstanding relationship with the LA Kings as we work together to continue delivering high-quality, live game broadcasts to our enthusiastic and dedicated regional sports audiences,” said David Preschlack, CEO of Diamond.

In terms of the bigger Diamond Sports and Bally Sports picture, it looks like the company plans to use this deal as an example for deals with other teams and leagues in general.

As Preschlack explained in the press release, “we are encouraged by the progress we are making in our restructuring process and are hopeful that this agreement can serve as a model for future discussions with our team and league partners.”
