Diamond Sports Group Agrees New RSN Distribution Deal With Charter

Diamond Sports Group has agreed a new distribution deal With Charter Communications. The new agreement ensures Spectrum customers will continue to have access to the Diamond’s regional sports networks in the future.

Specifically, the new agreement guarantees Spectrum TV Select Plus customers will continue to have access to live, local MLB, NBA and NHL games, as well as pre- and post-game content. This is in addition to the option to sign in to the Bally Sports app to access Diamond’s RSN channels and content.

We expect this agreement to generate value for Diamond, Charter and our team and league partners, and enable us to continue providing high quality broadcasts for passionate local fans. We believe this agreement can serve as a model in the ongoing time-sensitive negotiations with our other distribution partners to reach carriage agreements that work for all parties,” said David Preschlack, CEO of Diamond.

Similar to other deals made by Charter recently, the agreement also provides the opportunity for Spectrum customers that don’t get access to Diamond’s RSNs through their live TV package to purchase a Bally Sports+ subscription through Spectrum. Once purchased, those customers will have access to local DTC content for teams that Diamond still retains the rights to.

Last month, and as part of last year’s distribution agreement with Disney, Spectrum TV Select Plus customers gained the option to redeem a free ESPN+ subscription. This was following the ability earlier this year for Spectrum TV customers to get both Disney+ and ViX as part of their live TV package, and also at no additional cost.
