In partnership with A Parent Media Co. Inc., Dallas Stars is making it possible for fans to stream games for free through Victory+, a new direct-to-consumer, and free ad-supported, streaming platform.
The free games will be available to watch on the new DTC service when the 2024–25 NHL season begins in October. Ahead of the start of the new season, a new Victory+ app will become available to download in September.
According to the details, the new app will support a variety of platforms and devices, including smart TVs, tablets and smartphones.
“After years of researching the right solution and careful planning with our partners at APMC, we’re proud to announce this pioneering streaming platform that will literally change the game for sports distribution on Victory+,” said Dallas Stars President and CEO Brad Alberts. “Our first priority has always been our fan base, and on Victory+ fans will be able to stream 100 percent of Stars content for free through this innovative and unique streaming platform for sports programming.”
The launch of the new service follows the conclusion of the previous Bally Sports distribution agreement with Diamond Sports Group.
“Despite the mutual agreement between the Dallas Stars and Diamond Sports Group to end our current relationship pending court approval, we would like to acknowledge that we wouldn’t be here today without the partnership and commitment of Bally Sports and their staff over the past 25 years and thank them for their partnership,” Alberts added.
As to be expected, the ability to watch Dallas Stars games live through Victory+ will be reserved for those based within the Dallas Stars regional territory. Basically, Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas.
If outside of this area, however, Dallas Stars and APMC have confirmed fans will still be able to access Victory+ to watch a selection of ancillary content provided by the team.
According to APMC, the deal with Dallas Stars is only the first of many, with the plan being to make Victory+ the streaming home for other professional sports teams and leagues.
“With more than a decade of safe streaming and monetization experience, we are excited to expand beyond Kidoodle.TV and Dude Perfect into sports,” stated APMC President and CEO Neil Gruninger. “This presents a remarkable opportunity to collaborate with the Dallas Stars, an organization that is prioritizing their fans. Leveraging our digital expertise, we aim to create a cutting-edge platform that unites fans, teams, athletes, content providers, advertisers and brands in a unique streaming service that celebrates them all collectively.”
Presumably, any other leagues or teams that become available through Victory+ will also be available to consumers for free, thanks to the use of the same FAST model.
