Crunchyroll will soon add support for multiple profiles. The change will make it possible for homes to create their own individual accounts instead of everyone having to use the same master account when using the app.
While Crunchyroll hasn’t confirmed exactly when multiple profiles support will go live, it is scheduled to roll out over the next few weeks (before the end of April 2024). Once available, app users will be able to add up to five individual profiles. According to Crunchyroll, users will be able to choose their own profile avatars, with characters from more than 30 different anime series available to pick from at launch.
For reference, multiple profiles is one of those features which will require a premium subscription. The price of Crunchyroll Premium starts at $7.99 (Fan) a month and new subscribers get access to a 14-day free trial. In addition to multiple profiles, Crunchyroll Premium removes the ads and unlocks access to all of the anime available on the streaming service.
It is worth noting that the Fan tier only allows streaming on a single device. For any homes that plan to make use of multiple profiles to stream at the same time on different devices, the $9.99/month Mega Fan (up to four streams) and the $14.99/month Ultimate Fan (up to six streams) are going to be better options.
If, for example, a home is signed up to the Ultimate Fan tier, all five individual profiles will be able to stream Crunchyroll content on different devices at the same time.
