Comcast and Diamond Sports Group have officially reached an agreement that will see Bally Sports RSNs returning To Xfinity TV. The regional sports networks have remained unavailable since late April, 2024.
Under the terms of the new deal, Diamond’s 15 regional sports networks will become available August 1 for subscribers to Comcast’s Xfinity Ultimate TV package in markets where those Bally Sports channels are available.
Along with accessing the sports networks through their live TV package, Xfinity Ultimate TV customers will also be able to stream RSN content through the Bally Sports app after authenticating with their Xfinity account details.
“We appreciate Diamond Sports working with us to reach a solution that returns the Bally Sports RSNs to our Ultimate TV customers in a way that reflects the changing video marketplace for local sports,” said Greg Rigdon, President of Content Acquisition for Comcast. “We look forward to making these networks available on August 1, so customers can enjoy watching their favorite teams again.”
The agreement is also good for Diamond Sports Group. The company is still in the process of preparing to present its restructuring plan following its bankruptcy filing early last year.
“Entering a new carriage agreement with Comcast, our third largest distributor, is a critical step forward in our restructuring effort, and we are pleased that fans will again be able to access broadcasts of their local teams through Xfinity,” said David Preschlack, CEO of Diamond Sports.
With Xfinity Ultimate TV the only package that now includes Bally Sports RSNs, those on a cheaper plan that previously provided access to the sports networks will need to upgrade to regain access to the regional sports networks.
