The new Chromecast with Google TV (HD) is already seeing a discount of $10 which brings the cost down to just $20. Google only announced its latest Chromecast on September 22nd, so this discount has come at a very early stage. For those that would prefer the 4K model, Google has also discounted the older Chromecast with Google TV by $10 as well.

The Chromecast with Google TV (HD) is very similar to the Chromecast with Google TV (4K) that Google released back in 2020. The main difference is that the newer model is limited to 1080p which is where the savings are made. At its usual $29 price, the new Chromecast already offered plenty of value for those looking for a low-cost streaming player, or a secondary device to be used in another room or as a backup to the main streaming player in the home.

Google has now discounted the Chromecast with Google TV (HD) by $10. At present, the discount only seems to apply to purchases made through the Google Store with other retailers still listing the usual $29 price. However, the Google Store is also offering free shipping so the total cost is only $19.99 (plus tax) for the new Chromecast with Google TV (HD).

Google has also discounted the older Chromecast with Google TV (4K) by the same price, making it possible to pick up the 4K model for $39.99. Unlike the HD version, the same $10 discount is also currently available through other retailers, including Amazon and Best Buy. Regardless of whether buying the Chromecast with Google TV (HD) or (4K), this promotion started on October 2nd and is due to end on November 9, 2022, while stocks last.

As mentioned, buyers of either model will be getting a very similar product and experience. For example, both models look exactly the same and both run on Google TV with access to the same selection of apps. Both also come with the same remote. However, the differences are not just resigned to 4K support, as the new newer model also lacks Dolby Vision and is backed up by an older processor. The HD Chromecast is also only available to buy in one color – Snow.
