BritBox has reached three million subscribers for the first time. Along with confirming the three-million subscriber milestone, BritBox International said it was a proud day for the ad-free subscription streaming service.
BritBox is designed to be a one-stop solution for British TV. Created by the BBC and ITV, the subscription service is the streaming home of many popular British shows, including the UK version of The Office, as well as a selection of movies, documentaries, lifestyle programs, and BritBox Originals.
Outside of the UK, the streaming service is available in a variety of countries including the US, Canada, Australia, South Africa and the Nordic countries. The three-million subscriber figure now reached is specifically in relation to these additional countries.
The UK side of BritBox has largely been dissolved after ITV purchased the BBC’s portion of BritBox UK in early 2022. These days, the UK version of BritBox can be found embedded within the new ITVX Premium streaming service.
In the U.S., a standard BritBox subscription currently costs $7.99 when signing up on a monthly basis or $79.99 when subscribing to the annual plan. A 7-day free trial is also available, and regardless of whether subscribing to the service on a monthly or annual basis.
Following its initial launch in 2017, it took BritBox three years to finally reach the one-million subscriber milestone, after announcing the achievement in March 2020. The road to two million was traveled much quicker with that milestone reached in July 2021.
With the service having now officially confirmed three million subscribers, it has taken a little under two years for BritBox to climb from two to three million, and a little under five years to reach three million since launch.
