With school starting back up, now’s as good a time as any to see what student discounts and deals you can get on popular streaming services. Whether you’re going to be staying in a dorm, at home, or sharing accommodation, below is a roundup of what we think are the best streaming services for student discounts in 2023.
Before digging into the deals, it is worth taking a moment to explain how student discounts typically work with streaming services. As student discounts tend to offer big savings on streaming, every service usually requires students to prove they are enrolled in educational classes that earn credit towards a diploma, degree or similar.
In most cases, these services utilize SheerID, a company that specializes in verifying the status of students. The process typically involves collecting some user information, including your full name, full name of school, date of birth, along with either a school or personal email address.
With that out of the way, it’s time for the deals.

Best Streaming Service Student Discounts
Here is some additional information on each of the services and their respective student deals and discounts.
Apple TV Plus

Apple’s TV Plus offer is a little unique in the sense that it bundles two subscriptions together. While a standard Apple TV Plus subscription costs $6.99 a month, eligible students can get Apple TV+ for free when they sign up to the Apple Music Student Plan.
Basically, students can get Apple Music and Apple TV+ for just 5.99 a month, and they can even try the service out for free for an entire month before paying.
Hulu

We think the Hulu student discount is one of the best around as it just straight up saves you money on a subscription each month. While a standard Hulu (With Ads) plan costs $7.99 a month, students can get a Hulu (With Ads) subscription for just $1.99 a month, a saving of $6 each month.
Hulu does also offer a No Ads plan for $14.99 a month, but the streaming service doesn’t currently offer any discounts on its ad-free subscription.
NFL Sunday Ticket

NFL Sunday Ticket is now in the hands of YouTube and no longer requires a live TV plan. If signing up to the standalone YouTube subscription, Sunday Ticket costs a minimum of $400 a season. However, YouTube offers students the option to sign up for just $109 a season, and they can add NFL RedZone for just $10 more.
It is worth noting that one of the major differences between the student and standard NFL Sunday Ticket subscriptions is that students can only stream Sunday Ticket on one device at a time. Other than that, this is a pretty good saving on the usual cost.
Paramount Plus

For those interested in Paramount Plus, students are able to save 25% on the cost of the Essential plan. Considering Paramount+ Essential costs $5.99 a month, this means students can sign up and pay just $4.50 a month.
As Paramount Plus only offers a student discount on the Essential plan, there is currently no option to save on the cost of the Paramount+ with Showtime plan to get access to the Showtime library and an ad-free viewing experience.
Hot tip: Paramount Plus is currently running a promotion (up until Sept. 21, 2023) that reduces the cost of the Essential annual plan down to $29.99 ($2.49/mo. on average) or the Paramount+ with Showtime plan down to $59.99 ($4.99/mo. on average).
Peacock

Similar to Hulu, Peacock offers students the option to sign up and only pay $1.99 a month for the first 12 months. This is for the Peacock Premium Plan, and considering Premium normally costs $5.99 a month, the student discount offers a saving of $4 each month.
Peacock also offers a Premium Plus plan that not only removes the ads but also unlocks access to local NBC and downloads. However, Peacock does not currently offer a student discount on the Premium Plus plan.
Prime Video

Amazon not only offers a discount on Prime Video, but on Prime membership in general. While a standard Prime Video subscription costs $8.99 a month, students can get an Amazon Prime Student membership (which includes Prime Video, free Prime delivery, and more) for just $7.49 a month or $69 a year.
What’s more, students can currently get the first 6 months of Amazon Prime Student membership for free.
YouTube Premium

YouTube Premium is another option for students looking to save on the cost of streaming. One of our favorite things about YouTube Premium is that it removes the ads, and even for its collection of free full-length movies.
While the standard Individual YouTube Premium membership costs $13.99 a month, the discounted Student plan costs just $7.99 a month. In addition, while non-students only get one month for free, students can get three full months for free when signing up.
