FrightPIX is being relaunched as a free streaming channel for horror, thriller, and true crime fans. Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment announced the plan as part of a new joint venture with Swirl Films.

Late last month, Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment announced a new joint venture with Fuel TV. The partnership will see the launch of a number of new free, ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channels as well as the rebranding of some existing channels. At the time, Chicken Soup for the Soul confirmed the deal would be just one of many joint ventures to be announced in 2024.

Today the company announced its next joint venture, and this time with Swirl Films. According to the announcement, the ad-supported video on demand (AVOD) service FrightPIX will relaunch as a FAST channel with access to “thousands of hours of full-length horror, thriller, and true crime” content, resulting in a “home for creature features, zombies, thrillers, and creepy crimes.”

While Chicken Soup for the Soul’s Screen Media Ventures division will provide the back catalog, Swirl Films will manage the FAST FrightPIX channel and produce exclusive, original content for the channel.

We’re delighted to be working with Eric and his team at Swirl Films on this joint venture,” said Elana Sofko, chief strategy officer of Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment. “Creepy content is one of the most popular genres for streaming audiences, not commonly available for advertisers, and we feel this new joint venture will enable us to fully realize the potential of our catalog and the FrightPIX brand. That, combined with the exclusive original titles, will make it a must-watch destination for horror, thriller, and true crime fans.

No launch date for the new channel has been provided so far, but Chicken Soup for the Soul did confirm that the new FrightPIX FAST channel would be available on YouTube as well as various connected platforms.
