AT&T TV Now is no longer available to new subscribers. Instead, those now trying to sign up through the A&T TV Now website will be redirected to the company’s AT&T TV plans, which start at $69.99 per month on a no contract basis.
AT&T TV Now used to be one of the most popular live TV streaming services in the United States. However, over the last couple of years it has consistently lost subscribers each quarter, partly a result of price increases coupled with an increasing number of channels having been removed from the service. Not to mention, the increased competition from Hulu Live TV and YouTube TV.
These constant price and channel changes made it to difficult for consumers to know what was around the corner and whether the service was worth a subscription. Prior to this most recent change, A&T TV Now offered two main planes, Plus and Max. The Plus plan was priced at $55 per month while Max was charged at $80 per month.
The A&T TV Now website has now been updated to confirm “AT&T TV NOW has merged with AT&T TV.” This has resulted in the removal of the Plus and Max plans, leaving consumers with only the option to sign up for AT&T TV’s Entertainment, Choice and Ultimate plans.
The change does not currently affect existing subscribers who still have the option to sign in to their AT&T TV Now account through a link at the top of the website. However, this may change in the future.
What new customers are now being offered
At $69.99 (plus tax) per month, the Entertainment plan is now the cheapest option available through AT&T TV. Besides the access to a selection of live TV channels, the plan also comes with streaming access to more than 40,000 on-demand titles.
Alternatively, there are the Choice and Ultimate packages, priced at $84.99 and $94.99 per month, respectively. Both of which up the number of on demand titles to more than 45,000 and come with both HBO Max (for the first year) and NBA League Pass (2020-2021 season) for free. There is also a Premier option which comes with even more channels and HBO Max permanently included for $139.99 per month.
Regardless of whether signing up to the Entertainment, Choice, Ultimate or Premier plan, the cloud DVR is limited to 20 hours, although subscribers can increase this to 500 hours for an additional $10 per month.
With the cheapest plan now costing $69.99 per month, this has raised the entry-level cost for consumers looking to stream live TV through AT&T. The cheapest Entertainment plan does offer more channels (65+) than the AT&T TV Now Plus plan did, and no longer requires subscribers to use the company’s own streaming player to access the service.
