An Apple TV+ and Paramount+ bundle could become available in the future. This is according to a new report which confirms Apple and Paramount Global have already discussed bundling their services together.
Following a price increase in October, a standard Apple TV+ subscription now costs $9.99 a month. After the Paramount+ price increase early in the year, a monthly subscription costs $5.99 a month with ads or $11.99 a month without ads. At these prices, subscribing to both Apple TV+ and Paramount+ at the same time costs a minimum of $15.98 each month.
According to the report from The Wall Street Journal, the two companies have discussed offering Apple TV+ and Paramount+ in a bundle at a cheaper price than paying for both services separately. How much the bundle would cost remains unknown.
While it remains unclear how much a bundle like this would cost, considering one of the selling points of Apple TV+ is the ad-free experience, it would make some sense for any deal agreed to be for an ad-free bundle. If that is the case, the bundle would then need to be priced lower than $22 a month to be worthwhile.
According to the WSJ, the discussions are said to be at an early stage at the moment, so it also remains unclear if a bundle of this type will actually happen.
In terms of why these companies might opt to combine their offerings, the report suggests the bundle is a way for the companies to increase the appeal of their services. Basically, a way for them to offer more content at a lower price.
The idea of bundling appears to be one which is becoming more frequent in recent times. Just last month, it was reported that Verizon plans to offer an ad-supported Netflix and Max bundle for just $10 a month. That’s $7 cheaper than subscribing to both services separately.
