The Apple TV app is now available to download on the DirecTV Stream Device which means DirecTV Stream subscribers can now watch Apple TV Plus content directly on their preferred streaming player.
Anyone signing up to DirecTV Stream can choose to either use their own streaming player or purchase the company’s device. In fact, DirecTV Stream is currently running a promotion which reduces the cost of the player to $0 for those that remained subscribed for an entire year.
For those that have opted to go with the DirecTV Stream Device, they also now have access to the Apple TV app. This app houses everything that Apple offers in terms of video content and is also how Apple’s own streaming service, Apple TV Plus, is accessed.
With access to the Apple TV app and Apple TV Plus, DirecTV Stream Device users now have the option of watching MLS, Friday Night Baseball, Apple’s catalog of originals including Bad Sisters, Severance, Shrinking, Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, and the new Tetris movie starring Taron Egerton. This is all in addition to any rentals or purchases made through the Apple TV app.
For those that are new to Apple TV Plus, the subscription service costs $6.99 per month following a 7-day free trial. If having recently purchased an Apple device then it may be possible to sign up for an extended free trial, and in most cases, gain access to as long as three months before paying.
If now considering signing up to DirecTV Stream to get access to live TV, the DirecTV Stream Device costs an additional $120 to purchase. As mentioned, it is currently possible to sign up and get a $10 discount per month on the cost of the player for 12 months. This effectively makes the DirecTV Stream Device free after twelve months.
