Amazon has a new TV lineup for consumers to consider and one of the big selling points with the new Fire TV Omni QLED Series is the use of the company’s new Ambient Experience for Fire TV. Amazon has been making Fire TV products for some time now, although they were previously in the form of standalone players and devices. While the company has also partnered with third-party brands to include Fire TV as the operating system on their smart TVs, Amazon has only recently expanded into the first-party TV market.

Earlier in the year, Amazon launched two new TV lines in the form of the 4-Series and the Omni Series 4K smart TVs. Both lines are available in multiple sizes and all of the models are relatively affordable smart TVs, especially when compared to other brands. Even though the new Fire TV Omni QLED Series does continue this trend, these even smarter TVs result in a higher entry price.

The new Omni QLED Series smart TVs feature what Amazon is calling Ambient Experience. Essentially, the TVs are equipped with sensors that allow them to know when someone enters the room. These sensors, along with the help of Alexa, make it possible for the TVs to switch to the Ambient Experience mode and ensure people in the room are presented with additional information, photos, or smart home controls instead of just a blank screen.

The Alexa side of this is made possible through the use of Alexa Widgets. These new widgets are especially optimized for the TV and are designed to show things like calendars, reminders, smart home controls, and even notes for other family members. Of course, not everyone is going to want these features turned on and so Amazon has confirmed various privacy controls are available to deactivate or temporarily turn them off, including disabling presence detection and a quiet hours mode.

For those interested in trying out Amazon’s new Fire TV Omni QLED Series, both versions are available to preorder from Amazon starting today, with both due to go on general sale at both Amazon and Best Buy starting on October 27, 2022. In terms of pricing, the 65 inch Fire TV Omni QLED Series smart TV costs $799.99 while the 75 inch model will set buyers back $1,099.99.
