Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) has confirmed that it is working on a new Truth Social live TV streaming platform. The streaming service will offer access to a variety of live TV content, including “content that has been cancelled, is at risk of cancellation, or is being suppressed on other platforms and services.”
According to TMTG, the new live TV streaming platform has been in testing over the past six months and will be introduced in three stages. The first involves rolling out a new content delivery network (CDN) to the Truth Social Android, iOS, and web apps. The company is making use of its own CDN to ensure the streaming experience, including speed, performance, and security, meets its requirements. This also includes ensuring the streaming platform is ability to operate “independent of Big Tech.”
The second phase will involve the release of standalone Truth Social over-the-top streaming apps for phones, tablets, and other devices. Finally, the third phase will see the release of a Truth Social streaming app for smart TVs.
“We’re excited to move forward with the next big phase for Truth Social,” said TMTG CEO Devin Nunes. “With our streaming content, we aim to provide a permanent home for high-quality news and entertainment that face discrimination by other channels and content delivery services. There is a lot of great content that simply can’t find an audience for unjust reasons, and we want to let these creators know they’ll soon have a guaranteed platform where they won’t be cancelled.”
While TMTG has confirmed the details of the staged rollout, the company has yet to confirm how much the streaming service will cost, or whether it will be offered to users as a free, ad-supported streaming service.
