A new Roku Sports Channel is set to launch next week, offering access to a variety of free sports content. The free ad-supported sports channel will be available to access directly through The Roku Channel in the U.S. beginning August 12, 2024.

Once live, viewers will be able to check out sports programming owned and licensed by Roku, including live Major League Baseball games with MLB Sunday Leadoff and live Formula E races. Additional live content is expected to be added in the future, including NBA G-League games.

In addition to live content, viewers will also be able to check out a variety of popular shows, including The Rich Eisen Show and GMFB: Overtime, as well as a selection of sports-themed Roku Originals, including NFL Draft: The Pick Is In, WWE: Next Gen, and Fight Inc: Inside the UFC.

Additional sports content expected to be available on the Roku Sports Channel includes classic boxing matches from Top Rank, combat sports from Swerve Sports, and high-stakes poker entertainment from PokerGO.

A curated always-on channel that leads our viewer through the wide variety of premium sports content available for free on The Roku Channel, Roku Sports Channel is an exciting addition to our expanding sports offering,” said Joe Franzetta, Head of Sports, Roku Media. “We continue to see audiences enjoy the familiar, lean-back experience FAST offers, especially with sports. Sports is one of our most popular channel genres on The Roku Channel, which makes us so excited to make it even easier for audiences to jump into Roku’s standout programming.”

For those that have yet to check The Roku Channel out, it can be accessed for free directly on Roku players and smart TVs, as well as through the website. A free Roku app is also available to download on a selection of third-party devices, including Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, and Google TV players and TVs, in addition to Android and iOS mobile devices, and Samsung TVs.
