Ten Dallas Mavericks 2023-24 NBA season games are being made available to watch free over the air, as part of a new rights agreement with Tegna. The deal is similar to deals other teams have made recently following the issues with Bally Sports.
Last year, the NBA and Diamond Sports Group reached an agreement that allowed teams to strike temporary deals with local broadcasters for the remainder of the current season. For example, Oklahoma City Thunder recently confirmed its remaining 2023-24 Friday regular-season games would be available to watch for free over the air.
With the Dallas Mavericks having now confirmed its new rights agreement with Tegna, fans in North Texas will be able to tune in and watch 10 games for free with an antenna. These games will be available to watch on WFAA, and are in addition to the three national games that were already scheduled to be shown locally on the channel.
In total, this results in 13 Mavericks games now confirmed as available to watch on WFAA, with the majority of them taking place in March and April.
The 13 games available to WFAA viewers are:
- Wed., Jan. 24 vs Phoenix Suns, 7:30 p.m. CT (NBA on ABC)
- Fri., Mar. 1 @ Boston Celtics, 6:30 p.m. CT
- Sun., Mar. 3 vs Philadelphia 76ers, 12 p.m. CT (NBA on ABC)
- Thurs., Mar. 7 vs Miami Heat, 6:30 p.m. CT
- Sat., Mar. 9 @ Detroit Pistons, 6 p.m. CT
- Mon., Mar. 11 @ Chicago Bulls, 7 p.m. CT
- Wed., Mar. 13 vs Golden State Warriors, 7:30 p.m. CT
- Sun., Mar. 17 vs Denver Nuggets, 2:30 p.m. CT (NBA on ABC)
- Fri., Mar. 29 vs Sacramento Kings, 9 p.m. CT
- Fri., Apr. 5 vs Atlanta Hawks, 7:30 p.m. CT
- Tue., Apr. 9 @ Charlotte Hornets, 6 p.m. CT
- Wed., Apr. 10 @ Miami Heat, 6:30 p.m. CT
- Fri., Apr. 12 vs Detroit Pistons, 7:30 p.m. CT
“We are very proud to partner with the Dallas Mavericks, and to make these important late-season games available to every fan, and every household, in North Texas,” said Brad Ramsey, senior vice president of media operations for TEGNA, and president and general manager of WFAA. “As WFAA celebrates 75 years, we’ve long been the home for live, local sports and local sports fans and we look forward to cheering on the Mavs right alongside their fans and our viewers.”
As previously reported, the Mavericks had been considering alternate options for when its deal with Bally Sports Southwest officially comes to an end. While that still might be the case, Bally Sports owner, Diamond Sports, and Amazon recently announced a new deal which will see Amazon’s Prime Video Channels service taking over the streaming reigns for Bally Sports services and subscriptions.
